Abstract

Introduction: The Covid 19 pandemic had a direct impact on increasing food and nutritional insecurity in Brazil. Objective: Debate on the weakening of public policies aimed at combating hunger and its influence on the progression of food insecurity in Brazil. Methodology: A qualitative study was carried out based on the research for articles and an interview with the economist Francisco Menezes. Results: With the pandemic, there was an increase in inequalities and with the reduction of emergency aid, there was a worsening of the situation. Discussion: As much as civil society and companies mobilized at the beginning of the pandemic, the nutritional aspect was rarely taken into account. Conclusion: There is a need for effective social policies to recover the years of setback that occurred in Brazil.
