https://simbiologias.ibb.unesp.br/index.php/files/article/view/267

Food and Nutritional Surveillance is a monitoring tool that provides a diagnosis of the population's food and nutritional status. Consequently, it allows to know the Food and Nutritional Security reality of the population. In addition, it serves as a subsidy for policies, programs and actions that promote the strengthening of Food and Nutrition Security in different places, including the Primary Health Care. This study aimed to identify and analyze the scope and limits of Food and Nutritional Surveillance in Primary Health Care and its effects on Food and Nutritional Security actions. An exploratory study was carried out, with a quantitative
descriptive approach, which took place through research with an online electronic form answered by professionals who work at the Primary Health Care. The findings revealed that most professionals who responded to the survey were nurses and nutritionists. It was also observed that the anthropometric assessment was performed in a good part of the consultations. The groups with the highest percentages were children under 10 years old and pregnant women. The insufficient use of information collected from food and nutrition surveillance actions was another highlight. Finally, food and nutrition surveillance actions are directly related to the full development of Food and Nutritional Security.
Francielle Morganne Veríssimo Alves SilvaPaulo Alves Junior

2022-11-242022-11-241421EFFECTS OF CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) ON AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION IN FAMILIES IN THE DISTRIT OF PEMBA (MUXARA)– MOZAMBIQUE
https://simbiologias.ibb.unesp.br/index.php/files/article/view/268

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effects of coronavirus (Covid-19) on agricultural production of families in the district of Pemba (Muxara) in Mozambique. The social isolation during a pandemic has changes the dynamics of families in production processes and agricultural income. Adequate and timely planning by the Government, productive sectors and families minimizes the disastrous effects of the pandemic. The research is explanatory with a quantitative approach. From the universe of the population of Muxara (5,872), 200 interviews were applied through a questionnaire. Data on socio-demographic characteristics, agricultural processes, difficulties and agricultural productivity of families before and during Covid-19 were collected. The statistical analyzes of the sample (n=200) showed greater involvement of women in agricultural production, most of them are adults and without knowing how to read and write. The agricultural production depends on rainfall and is carried out in smaller plots manually, few have access to seeds, improved fertilizers and technical assistance. The agricultural productivity of corn and cassava crops, achievable by most peasants, is below half a ton per hectare, but during the pandemic 48% of respondents were unable to finish their agricultural plots and in 52% of the interviews the productivity dropped to 0.226t/ha, a reduction of almost 50% compared to that achieved before Covid-19.
Juma Achá EliasCastro Pedro Muhamale

2022-11-242022-11-241421CHARACTERIZATION OF EATING HABITS OF CHILDREN UNDER FIVE YEARS OLD IN THE DISTRICT OF NAMACURRA, ZAMBÉZIA PROVINCE IN MOZAMBIQUE.
https://simbiologias.ibb.unesp.br/index.php/files/article/view/269

The comunity of Vuruca, in the administrative post of Malei, district of Namacurra, province of Zambézia, is an area with great potential for agricultural production. However, it is notorious and frequent to find children whose nutritional status is insufficient. Eating habits are essential for good growth and health; therefore, this work aims to investigate the characterization of the eating habits of children in that region of the country. To carry out the work, data collection was carried out through interviews composed of semi-structured questionnaires for those
responsible for children under 5 years of age and public managers (District nutritionist). A descriptive analysis of the critical evaluation of the recommendations for adequate eating habits recommended by the Ministry of Health and other authors was carried out. The village of Vuruca, Malei, although being an area with high agricultural production, has a low literacy rate and health coverage, and eating habits have shown to be outside the normal dietary pattern for good nutrition. It is concluded that these habits are related to the lack of food education policies, through government agencies, as well as the low level of economic development and health coverage.
Quisito Alfredo AzevedoVictorino Setemane AzevedoFlávia Queiroga Aranha

2022-11-242022-11-241421FOOD AND NUTRITION INSECURITY IN THE BELAS VILLAGE - DISTRICT OF VANDÚZI.
https://simbiologias.ibb.unesp.br/index.php/files/article/view/270

Several studies carried out in Mozambique point out that there is a high degree of Food Insecurity throughout the national territory, which is also proven by research carried out in the village of Belas, located in the district of Vandúzi in the province of Manica. The present study is based on a mixed research (qualitative and quantitative) of exploratory-descriptive genre. In
this context, a sample of 40 families within the village of Belas was randomly selected and the number of families facing food and nutrition insecurity was evaluated based on interviews using the Brazilian Food Insecurity Scale (EBIA). In addition, 10 children under 5 years of age were measured for height and weight. As a result of the field research, it was found that of the 40 selected families, 31 families had Severe Food Insecurity, three had Moderate Food Insecurity; one had Moderate Food Insecurity that tends to worsen, and only two families presented Food Security. These data allow us to infer that public policies in Mozambique, especially in the village of Belas, are not being implemented with due efficiency, because they are not known by these small farmers, thus contributing to high rates of families in Food Insecurity.
Amiggini Assiete Armando de Azevedi SacuroBulaitone Chamuca ZivaleRegina Aparecida Leite de Camargo
